Today our family was invited aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines newest ship to set sail The Getaway, as guests of Norwegian Cruise Lines and The Moms. where we experienced the #ultimategetaway. Once we cleared security we were welcomed aboard by the crew and escorted into the Illusionarium . Once seated we dined on a gourmet three course lunch and were able to see a preview of the onboard entertainment. Our cruise director Julie, YES her name was Julie started off with a warm welcome sharing some of the exciting things we would soon be seeing on The Getaway.

The sizzling entertainment of Burn the Floor, a non-stop display of movement and style based on the world-renowned Broadway show started our afternoon entertainment. Next up was the magic of Lysander the magician, which had everyone intrigued wondering how did he do that? Our family loves broadway plays so we were excited to be able to see a sneak peak of Legally Blonde The Musical. Exclusively on Norwegian Getaway, this seven-time Tony Award-nominated musical proves once and for all that blondes do have more fun. Main Man’s favorite part of the entertainment was the finale. A dance party by everyones favorite Nickelodeon characters. Sponge Bob, Patrick Star, Dora and even Diego joined in the fun. The look on the children’s faces as their favorite Nick friends entered the room was priceless.
After viewing the onboard entertainment the children where able to visit the Splash Academy . Where Kids ages 3-12 can do what they do best – be kids! With complimentary youth programs this is where they can enjoy age-appropriate creative play, sports and more.

While the kids were having fun we were then given a tour of this #ultimategetaway experience. There is certainly something for everyones palate with 15 different dining options. With everything from Carlos Bakery Cafe to Wasabi Noodle Bar and everything in-between. For If it’s nightlife your looking for or an after dinner drink there are 9 bars and lounges where you can unwind , enjoy a cocktail or dance the night away. Personally I look forward tot visiting the Svedka Ice Bar located on deck eight, the SVEDKA Ice Bar will accommodate approximately 25 guests at a time. Guests who will don hooded coats and gloves to keep warm, since the artic-like room’s temperature will not rise above 17 degrees Fahrenheit. My husband has not stopped talking about The Grammy Experience a venue featuring artifacts chosen and curated by the Grammy Museum at L.A. LIVE.

With 2,014 staterooms with 7 different options to choose from all staterooms are energy efficient, ultilizing key card access to control lighting.All the staterooms have modern generous in size bathrooms and can sleep anywhere from 4-6 persons depending on room size and location. If we were not traveling with a small child our room pick would be The Haven where guests are pampered with privacy, personalized service, a private restaurant , cocktail bar and a concierge desk all exclusive. Another benefit of The Haven is priority disembarkation and embarkation as well as priority boarding for tenders to shore.

While every cruise has at least 2 days at sea don’t fret there is ALWAYS something to do. The Aqua Park where guests can twist and shout with five watersides, two swimming pools and four hot tubs. The Sports Complex features mini golf, basketball court, rock climbing wall , a bungee trampoline and a web climbing cage featuring the largest ropes course at sea. If your family is full of thrill seekers then you must confront The Plank , a platform that extends eight feet over the side of the ship. Looking for some MOM time be sure to visit the Getaway spa for the #ultimategetaway spa experience in 23,000 square feet. I must admit the casino on board all 18,000 square feet of it, had me itching to try my luck at a black jack table sometime soon.
The Norwegian Getaway also offers Entourage where teens can be themselves , hang out and meet new friends designed like an adult lounge minus the adults. Since the big kids will be busy between Splash Academy and Entourage don’t worry if your onboard with a child over 6 months to 2 years because Norwegian Cruise Lines has a dedicated nursery.
Although the ships port of call will be Miami, New York City should be honored to house the ship for a few days.
